2021 NSWACT Laser Biathlon Sprint Championships

The NSWACT Laser Biathlon Sprint Championships are organized by NSW Biathlon and Biathlon ACT on behalf of Biathlon East Australia. The events will be held at either the Perisher Valley Biathlon Range, subject to snow conditions.
(A dry-land event will be held if the Perisher Valley Laser Biathlon Range is not operating.)
The races are open to biathletes of all levels and experience. First-time entrants who are not experienced in laser biathlon should enter Sport Class.
The NSWACT Laser Biathlon State Championships are being held with adherence to Biathlon East Australia's COVID-19 Safety Plan requirements.
If you are ill or have flu-like symptions, please donot attend.

The NSWACT Laser Biathlon Sprint Championships are selection races to the 2021-2022 Biathlon East Australia State Team and State Development Team.

Time: Bib pick-up 8.30am-9.00am.
8.45am zeroing / 9.15am race start time
Race Format: Sprint
Cost: $25 race entry
Shooting: 2 prone - Sport to 16 years
1 prone /1 standing Youth to Masters
Age Categories: Age categories will be for male and female. Age classes are as follows:
- Open (born 1999 or earlier)
- Masters (born 1991 or earlier)
- Junior (born 2000 to 2002)
- Youth (born 2003-2005)
- U16 (born 2006-2007)
- U14 (born 2008-2009)
- U12 (born 2010 - 2011)
- U10 (born 2012 or later)
Sports Class Junior - U18 years male and female, who have not participated in an on-snow laser biathlon event before
Sports Class Senior - Youth and above male and female, who have not participated in an on-snow laser biathlon event before
12 years and under Novice - for 12years and under athletes who are new to XC skiing and biathlon
Rifle Carrying: Rifles will be handled as follows
Sport Category - placed on the mat
12 years to 16 years and under - placed on the mat
Masters - placed on the Rack (subject to conditions)
Youth, Junior, Open - placed on the Rack (subject to conditions)
Distance: total skiing distances will be as follows, divided into 3 loops with 2 shootings.
Under 10yrs 470m 2x 235m Range loop/1 shoot
Under12yrs & U12yrs Novice 470m 2 x 235m Range loop/1 shoot
Sport Junior 1.9km 3 x 635m Nordic loop / 2 shoots
Sport Senior 2.35km 3 x 785m Perisher Sprint loop /2 shoots
U14yrs 3.0km 3 x 1km loops /2 shoots
U16yrs 3.0km 3 x 1km loops / 2 shoots
Youth W 4.5km 3 x 1.5km /2 shoots
Youth M 6.0km 3 x 2km / 2 shoots
Junior W 6.0km 3 x 2km / 2 shoots
Open W 6.0km 3 x 2km /2 shoots
Junior M 7.5km 3 x 2.0km /2 shoots
Open M 7.5km 3 x 2.0km /2 shoots
Masters (30yrs+) 2.35km 3 x .785km / 2 shoots
Penalty Loops: Penalty loops will be skied per target miss for 14 year age categories and above.
Laser equipment will be provided as part of the event.
Official Training: Offical Training will be held on Thursday 1st July or by arrangement. Athletes are able to attend offiical training at no cost with their event entry. Training time will be advised after close of entries.
Membership: You must be a member of a Biathlon East Australia Club or Association to enter this event.

Officials : Biathlon races require Range Officials and Penalty loop counters. Please indicate if you can volunteer to assist. Volunteer officials get a very good view of the laser range.
