Biathlon ACT Laser Championships - Super Sprint

Date:  Thursday 14th April, 2021

Where:  Mt Stromlo Forest Park Criterium

Bib Pick-up: from 8.30am at the entry to Mt Stromlo Forest Park Criterium  

Course Inspection and Laser Rifle Zero:   from 8.30am

Event Start Time: 9.30am  

Cost: $25 per entry plus $5 laser hire 

Entries Close:  Tue 12th April at 11.59pm

Age Categories: Age categories will be for male and female. :

Under 10years; Under 12years; Under 14years; Under 16years;  Youth ( 17-18yrs) ; Junior (19-21yrs) ; Open ;  Masters 30years plus

Racing Format:  

  • Roller-skiing
  • An interval start Sprint time trial will be hled with the top 30 times progressing through to the Mass Start final.  
  • The Time Trial will consist of three roller ski loops and shoot 5 targets two times.
  • The final will consist of a mass start and 5 roller ski loops and shoot 5 targets four times.
  • Competitors Under 10yrs and Under 12yrs will shoot prone on standing targets with a rest
  • Competitors Under 14 years and Under 16yrs will shoot prone on prone targets , with use of a rest optional 
  • Youth and above age groups will shoot prone and standing targets.
  • Distances  - loops will be 500m or 1km depending upon age. 
  • U10, U12 and U14 will shoot until they have hit all targets
  • A penalty loop is to be skied for each missed target for U16 and above
  • Medals will be awarded to place-getters  

Course Inspection and Zeoring:  Course inspection and zeroing will commence from  8.30am. 

Equipment Hire:  Racing equipment can be hired for $10, please indicate requirements when registering. 

Roller-Ski Competency : Entrants should be competent on roller-skis. 

Safety Equipment: Helmets are mandatory to wear in the race and elbow pads and knee pads are recommended for newer roller-skiers. 

Membership: You must be a member of Australian Biathlon, a Biathlon East Australia Club or Association to enter the Biathlon East Australia Summer Series No 2 event. This ensures insurance coverage. Day membership ($5) can be purchased from our Membership shop. 

Volunteer Officials: Biathlon racing requires volunteer officials to count target misses, penlty loops and to act as Course and Range Officials. Please indicate your availability to assist with officiating. Parents volunteering will be able to observe their children and others racing on the day.   

Further information on distances, racing formats and loop maps will be available prior to the competition and will be made available to entrants.
