Summer Series Event No 4 - Hotham .22 Biathlon Event

A Summer Series event is being held on behalf of Australian Biathlon Association.
(in conjunction with NSW Biathlon and Australian Biathlon)
The event is a fun, modified .22 running biathlon Summer Individual and will be followed by a fun Mixed Relay.
- Summer Individual. x5 short loops, x4 shoots, 15s penalty
- Fun Single Mixed Relays, Short loops, x2 shoots, short penalty loops.

Bib Pick-up: from 8.30am at Whisky Flat
Zeroing: 9.00am - 9.40am
Safety Briefing: 8.45am
Event Start Time: 10.00am
Cost: $25 per entry plus $5 rifle hire if required
Entries Close: Wed 20 April at 11.00pm
Age Categories:
Age categories will be for male and female. Age is the age you are turning in 2022 as follows:
Under 14years; Under 16years, Under 18 years, Junior (under 22years), Open, Masters 35 years plus
* Athletes who are turning 18years in 2022, but will not be 18yrs on the day of this event, will race in the U18 age category due to firearms licencing laws and supervision of minors.
Racing Format:
- Individual Start Running .22 Biathlon 'Summer' Individual x5 laps of between 300m and 500m, x4 shoots. 15s penalty for missed shots
- Single Mixed Relay teams based on results of the 'Summer Individual'. Format to be fully explained prior to event.
- Competitors U14 years will shoot prone on standing targets on a rest
- Competitors U16 yrs will shoot prone on prone targets using an armband
- U18yrs and Junior and above age groups will shoot prone and standing targets.
- Prizes will be awarded to place-getters
Shooting Licence: To enter athletes are required to hold a firearms licence or minors permit.
Safety: Competitors are to make themselves familiar with the Australian Biathlon Association Standing Orders under which the competition will be held on. Standing Orders will be issued to all competitors prior to the race and at Bib Collection.
A biathlon safety briefing will be held at 8.45am on the 24 April prior to zeroing.
Equipment Hire: There are limited .22 club biathlon rifles for hire which may need to be shared.
Ammunition: may be ordered for $10 per box
Membership: You must be a member of Australian Biathlon or Biathlon East Australia Association or Club to enter. Day membership ($5) can be purchased from our Membership shop.
Volunteer Officials: Biathlon racing requires volunteer officials to count target misses and to act as Course and Range Officials.
Please indicate your availability to assist with officiating. Parents volunteering will be able to observe their children and others racing on the day.
