Laser Biathlon Super Sprint Race and Relays
A Biathlon Summer Series event is being held in Jindabyne.

Where: Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre Oval
Bib Pick-up: from 8.30am at the athletics track
Course Inspection and warm up: from 8.30am
Event Start Time: 9.00am
Cost: $25 per entry
Entries Close: Sat 11th June at 6.00pm
Age Categories: Age categories will be for male and female. Age classes are as follows, and please check carefully the age category entering based on YOB of the entrant:
- Open (born 2000 or earlier)
- Masters (born 1987 or earlier)
- Junior Under 22 years (born 2001, 2002, 2003)
- Youth Under 19 years (born 2004, 2005, 2006)
- U16 (born 2007, 2008)
- U14 (born 2009, 2010)
- U12 (born 2011, 2012)
- U10 (born 2013 or later)
* Some age categories may be combined depending on numbers
Racing Format:
Time Trial
All participants will ski an individual time trial using an interval start format. The minimum distance will be circa 1km (longer distances may be possible) with 2 shoots.
Mass Start
Participants will be group in Age Categories and will race together in a mass start event with 4 shootings and 5 loops.
Team Relays (optional)
Based on the original time trial, participants will be placed into teams of two within categories combining fastest / slower times . Each pair will ski 2 loops with shooting, tagging between loops and one final loop together.
Other Information .
- A penalty loop of approx 40m will apply for each miss.
- Team Relays will combine males and females across age categories, matched to make the teams as even as possible
- Competitors U10yrs and U12yrs will shoot prone on standing targets with a rest
- Competitors U14 years and U16yrs will shoot prone on prone targets , with use of a rest optional
- Youth and above age groups will shoot prone and standing targets.
- Distances - loops are 500m and 1km
- Prizes are awarded to time-trial winners, medals awarded to mass start place-getters
Course Inspection and Zeoring: Course inspection and zeroing will commence from 8.30am.
Equipment Hire: Roller ski equipment can be hired for $5, please indicate requirements when registering.
Roller-Ski Competency : To enter the roller-skiing racing format, entrants should be competent on roller-skis. Roller blading/running will be permissible in its own racing category if athletes are inexpereinced in roller-skiing.
Safety Equipment: Helmets are mandatory to wear in the race and elbow pads and knee pads are recommended for newer roller-skiers.
Membership: Membership of Biathlon East Australia or Australian Biathlon is required for entry to ensure insurance coverage. Day membership is available to purchase Click here
Volunteer Officials: Biathlon racing requires volunteer officials to marshal, count target misses, penlty loops and to act as Course and Range Officials. Please indicate your availability to assist with officiating. Parents volunteering will be able to observe their children and others racing on the day.
Race Briefing: A race briefing will be held prior to the competition to confirm exact courses being raced up, distance and number of shoots.
