The NSWACT Laser Biathlon Sprint Championships are organized by NSW Biathlon and Biathlon ACT on behalf of Biathlon East Australia. The events will be held at either the Perisher Valley Biathlon Range, subject to snow conditions.

(A dry-land event  will be held if the Perisher Valley Laser Biathlon Range  is not operating.)

The races are open to biathletes of all levels and experience. First-time racers who are trying racing, should enter 1st time entrant category. 

The NSWACT Laser Biathlon State Championships are being held with adherence to the NSW Government's requirements for Community Sport.   

If you are ill or have flu-like symptions, please donot attend.

Time:  Bib pick-up 8.30am-9.00am.

            8.45am zeroing / 9.30am race start time 

Race Format: Sprint

Cost: $30 race entry 

Shooting: 2 prone - Under 10 years to Under 16 years & Masters 

1 prone /1 standing Youth to Open 

Age Categories: Age categories will be for male and female. Age classes are as follows: 

Rifle Carrying: Rifles will be handled as follows

First Time - placed on the mat

U10 years to U16 years - placed on the mat

Masters - placed on the mat 

Youth, Junior, Open - placed on the Rack (subject to conditions)

 Distance: total skiing distances will be as follows, divided into 3 loops with 2 shootings.   

Under 10yrs  470m 2x 235m Range loop/1 shoot 

Under12yrs  1.270m 635m  2 x 635m Range loop/1 shoot  

U14yrs   2.4km 3 x 785m loops /2 shoots    

U16yrs  3.0km 3 x 1km loops / 2 shoots 

Youth W 4.5km 3 x 1.5km /2 shoots

Youth M  6.0km 3 x 2km / 2 shoots

Junior W  4.5km 3 x 1.5km / 2 shoots

Junior M  6.0km  3 x 2.0km /2 shoots

Open W   6.0km 3 x 2km /2 shoots

Open M   6.0km 3 x 2.0km  /2 shoots

Masters (35yrs+)  2.35km  3 x .785km / 2 shoots 

Penalty Loops: Penalty loops will be skied per target miss for 14 year age categories and above.   U12 and U10 will stay on the mat until theyhit 5 targets.           

Laser equipment will be provided as part of the event. 

Official Training: Offical Training will be held on Saturday 9th July at 1.30 - 3.00pm. Athletes are able to attend offiical training at no cost with their event entry. 

Membership: You must be a member of a Biathlon East Australia Club or Association or Australian Biathlon  to enter this event.

Officials :  Biathlon races require Range Officials and Penalty loop counters. Please indicate if you can volunteer to assist. Volunteer officials get a very good view of the laser range.
