School Holiday Waxing Education  - unwrap the mystery!

Waxing your skis - learn how to care for your skis, pick the snow, wax for different conditions, understand structures.........

The aim of providing the wax sessions during the time of the NSW Biathlon school holiday training sessions is to develop athlete self sufficiency for caring and preparing both their skate and classic skis for training and competition.

Parents are most welcome to attend all sessions to learn alongside their athletes.

Athletes will learn how to:

• care for skis
• understand snow crystals/conditions + their skis and how to test both skis and waxes (classic&skate)
• how to race prep their skis
• how to adjust their binding position for particular terrain

Cost: $100/athlete per week

It is recommended to try a week and see how you go. Enroling for more than week will then consolidate knowledge with the aim of being able to care for/prep skis without support. 

Draft Schedule for Each Day  

7.45m to 8.00am - location TBA

- explanation of conditions/snow crystals/learning how to read humidity

- choosing appropriate klister/stick

- classic waxing application each morning - stickwaxes and klister provided 

1130 am:

- ski testing and during training

- understanding structures / different waxes 

- fast liquid application in prep for races + choosing the right liquid

Evening after training - athletes are welcome to attend ski care in the evening 

- clean skis from day of training / care for skis post training 

- assist athletes clean stick wax and klister after training 

- wax prep skis for training next day

- general wax and ski care 

- technical understanding of skis, waxes, binding position
