Biathlon in East Australia Overseas Tour Expression of Interest
Biathlon in East Australia (in conjunction with its Clubs and Associations) will be providing overseas training opportunities in central Europe for both developing and high performance athletes.
Expressions of interest are sought from developing, competent and high level athletes who would like to be involved in a team training and racing program which is aimed towards the following:
- Developing (ages 12 - 18) learning to train, learning to race, developing X-C skiing racing technique, .22 biathlon shooting skills and putting the two disciplines together towards participating in a targeted regional biathlon event for experience. (Athletes under 14 require a parent to support them).
- Training and racing towards Regional Cups and Alpen Cups
- Intensive training for high performance athletres targeting Youth Winter Olympic Games, IBU Junior Cup, World Youth and Junior Championships
- Travel and race insurance can be arranged.
Background Information:
- Iris Pessey, 2019 Australian Junior X C Coach of the Year and winner of the Women's Hoppet, will coach alongside 2019 Open Australian Biathlon Champion and BiEA Head Coach, Cameron Morton. Iris is a former IBU Cup French Biathlete and Cameron is an Olympic athlete and coach (Torino, Nagano).
Team training will be organised to meet the individual needs of participants and will be cost effective. It will involve:
- Daily Biathlon and XC skiing coaching towards targeted events
- Assistance with the procurement of biathlon equipment
- Management of an affordable team environment, accommodation, food, transport, waxing and race entries outside of IBU events.
- Ability to access HP Alpine Academy training in conjunction with the biathlon and X C ski training
Some training to be held with local club(s ) and/or international teams to facilitate professional training opportunities
Fun local events and local team based activities will be incorporated through the program.
Participants are welcome to make arrangments to join the team for part of the tour.
Participants are welcome to stay away from the team with their family.

Based on last year our program aims to be the most affordable and cost sensitive international Nordic program offered in Australia.
Estimates (and depending upon numbers) are around coaching costs at $43AUD per day per person and accommodation averaging 20-30 euro per day in self catering apartments.
Food costs can be minimized via self-catering.

9 Nov - 6 December HP Team - Preparation Training in Obertilliach Austria with Iris Pessey and local Austrian Club, Union Rosenbach.
7 Dec- 8 Dec HP Team - IBU Trimester 1 Alpen Cup 1 Obertilliach
9 - 22 Dec HP Team - IBU Trimester 1 Alpen Cup 2 Valdidentro, Italy or IBU Junior Cup 1, Pokljuka, Slovenia and IBU Junior Cup, Martell, Italy
15 Dec - 28 December HP & Development Training - Seefeld, Austria, Olympic Centre. Coaches: Cameorn Morton and Iris Pessey
28 Dec - 3 Jan HP & Development Training Rupholding, Germany, Chiemgau World Cup Arena Coaches: Cameron and Iris
3 Jan - 12 Jan HP & Development Training and Racing with British, Hochfilzen, Austria. Coaches: Cameron and Iris
4 Jan Austrian National Championships Super Sprint - all ages/ HP & Dev
(10 Jan - 16 Jan WYOGs, Qualified Athletes, Switzerland)
13 Jan - 23 Jan HP YJWCH Preparation & Development Training Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
(26 Jan - 3 Feb YJWCH Qualified athletes, Lenzerheide, Swizterland)
