On the 8th of February the IBU World Championships Biathlon 2017 will open in Hochfilzen/Tyrol. This will  be the third international championships held at Hochfilzen.

There has been a new stadium built and teams from more than 40 nations will be taking part. Already 95,000 tickets have been sold.

For Australia to compete, athletes who are qualified for IBU Cup can secure a wild card entry if they have earned below 180 IBU points. Damon Morton is the only AUS athlete who has met the qualification standard for World Championships and has been allocated a wild card entry.
