Trimester 2 IBU Cup racing commences at Matrell (ITA) on 5 January 2017. A 1700m Martell is one of the highest ranges in the IBU competitions and there is often strong wind for the athletes to content with.
Competing for AUS at this event will be Daniel Walker (AUS/NSW Biathlon), Sabrina Howell (NSW/AUS), Jillian Colebourn (AUS/Victorian Biathlon) and Jeremy Flanagan (AUS/Victorian Biathlon).
Racing is 2 Sprints and a Pursuit, which the athletes will qualify for if they finish in the top 60 of the Sprint competitions. This will be Colebourn, Howell and Flanagan's debut at IBU Cup which under IBU rules they can enter as they are by virtue of age.
All the athletes will be aiming to achieve the 250pts or below IBU points which will qualify them to start in Trimester 3.
