Biathlon ACT is holding the ACT Summer Biathlon Championships.
(in conjunction with NSW Biathlon)
The event is in the Sprint format and both .22 and laser biathlon options will be available.

Date: Sunday 29th March 2020
Where: Canberra Rifle Club, Majura, ACT
Bib Pick-up: from 7.45am at the Canberra Rifle Club
Course Inspection and Rifle Zero: 8.10am - 8.50am
Event Start Time: 9.00am
Cost: $25 per entry plus $5 rifle hire if required
Entries Close: Fri 27th March at 11.59pm
Age Categories: Age categories will be for male and female. Age is the age you are turning in 2020 as follows:
11 yrs and under, 12years and under, 14years and under, 16years and under, Youth (17-18yrs), Junior (19-21yrs), Open, Masters 30years plus
Sport Class: A sport class can be considered for each age category based upon number of entrants (min 2). If you are interested in entering the Sport Class please indicate when registering. Sport Class is for first time entrants in a biathlon event.
Racing Format:
- Running Sprint race with 2 shoots/3 laps and penalty loop for target misses
- Interval start with timing.
- Laser competitons 10 yrs and under/12yrs and under will shoot prone on standing targets using a rest
- Laser competitons for 16yrs, Youth, Junior and Open may aslo be scheduled subject to demand.
- Competitors 12 yrs will shoot prone on standing targets; own choice of rest or armsling.
- Competitors 14 yrs will shoot prone on standing targets using an arm sling
- Competitors 16 yrs will shoot prone on prone targets
- Youth and above age groups will shoot prone and standing targets.
- Distances - loops will be from 500m to 2km depending upon age.
- Medals will be awarded to place-getters
Official Training: An official training session will be available on Saturday 28th March 2020 at the Canberra Rifle Club range from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Booking is required and range fees payable to Canberra Rifle Club.
Official training is at no cost, except for Range fees.
Course inspection and zeroing will be available prior to racing on Sunday 24th March if competitors are unable to attend official training.
Shooting Licence: To enter the .22 racing format, entrants need to hold a firearms licence or minors permit.
Safety: Competitors are to make themselves familiar with the Canberra Rifle Club Olympic .22 Rimfire Standing Orders under which the competition will be held on. Standing Orders will be issued to all competitors prior to the race, at Official training and at Bib Collection. A safety briefing at 8.00am on the 29 March at the CRC Range will be held.
Equipment Hire: There are limited .22 club biathlon rifles for hire which may need to be shared.
Ammunition: may be ordered for $10 per box
Range Fees: payable to Canberra Rifle Club - $15 seniors/$9 Juniors (U18).
Membership: You must be a member of a Biathlon East Australia Association or Club to enter the Biathlon ACT Championships. Day membership ($5) can be purchased from our Membership shop.
Volunteer Officials: Biathlon racing requires volunteer officials to count target misses and to act as Course and Range Officials. Please indicate your availability to assist with officiating. Parents volunteering will be able to observe their children and others racing on the day.
