Biathlon East Australia Summer Series Event 1

          

A Biathlon Summer Series event is being held - Biathlon ACT - Laser Biathlon Super Individual

(please register the name of the entrant.)

Date:  Sunday 5th April, 2020

Where:  Mt Stromlo Forest Park Criterium

Bib Pick-up: from 8.30am (8.00am for first time Course attendees) at the entry to Mt Stromlo Forest Park Criterium  

Course Inspection and Laser Rifle Zero:   from 8.30am (8.00am for 1st time Course attendees) 

Event Start Time: 9.00am  

Cost: $30 per entry includes $5 hire of laser rifle.  

Entries Close:  Wed 1st April at 11.59pm

Age Categories: Age categories will be for male and female. Age is the age you are turning in 2020 as follows:

10yrs and under, 12years and under, 14years and under, 16years and under, Youth (17-18yrs), Junior (19-21yrs), Open, Masters 30years plus

Sport Class: A sport class can be considered for Juniors/Seniors based upon number of entrants (min 2). If you are interested in entering the Sport Class please indicate when registering. Sport Class is for first time entrants in a roller-ski laser biathlon event. 

Racing Format:  

  • Roller-skiing or Mt Biking can be selected.  
  • Interval start with timing. 
  • Competitors 16 years and under will ski or run 4 loops and shoot 5 targets .three times
  • Competitors Youth and above will ski or run 5 loops and shoot 5 targets four times.
  • Youth and above age groups will shoot prone and standing targets.
  • Other age groups and Masters will shoot prone on standing targets.
  • Distances  - loops will be from 200m, 500m to 1.5km depending upon age and racing format. 
  • Time penalty for target misses
  • Medals will be awarded to place-getters  

Laser Training Sessions:  Laser training sessions will be available each Monday afternoon for ACT residents leading up to the event. It is suggested a training session is booked so you are familiar with using the laser biathlon system, the laser range and the loops to be skied or run.    

For other entrants, course inspection and laser biathlon zeroing will be available prior to racing on Sunday 5 April from 8.00am if you are unable to attend a training session. 

Roller-Ski Competency : To enter the roller-skiing racing format, entrants should be competent on roller-skis.  An alternative format of running is available.   

Safety Equipment: Helmets are mandatory to wear in the race and elbow pads and knee pads are recommended for newer roller-skiers. 

Equipment Hire: Hiring of roller-ski, boots and poles is available. 

Poles $5 - not all lengths are available. You will be advised if your length is not and a length as close to your length provided.  

Roller-skis $10

Boots $10

More than one item $10 maximum cost.

Please indicate your requirements when entering. 

Membership: You must be a member of a Biathlon East Australia Club or Association to enter the Biathlon East Australia Summer Series events. This ensures insurance coverage. Day membership ($5) can be purchased from our Membership shop. 

Volunteer Officials: Biathlon racing requires volunteer officials to count target misses and to act as Course and Range Officials. Please indicate your availability to assist with officiating. Parents volunteering will be able to observe their children and others racing on the day.   

Further information on distances, racing formats and loop maps will be available prior to the competition and will be made available to entrants.
