Biathlon ACT Laser Championships - Super Sprint

          

A Biathlon Summer Series event is being held - Biathlon ACT Laser Championships - Super Sprint

Date:  Thursday 8th April, 2021

Where:  Mt Stromlo Forest Park Criterium

Bib Pick-up: from 8.30am at the entry to Mt Stromlo Forest Park Criterium  

Course Inspection and Laser Rifle Zero:   from 8.30am

Event Start Time: 9.15am  

Cost: $30 per entry

Entries Close:  Mon 5th April at 11.59pm

Age Categories: Age categories will be for male and female. Age is the age you are turning in 2021 as follows:

10yrs and under, 12years and under, 14years and under, 16years and under, Youth (17-18yrs), Junior (19-21yrs), Open, Masters 30years plus

Racing Format:  

  • Roller-skiing
  • An interval start Sprint style time trial will determine the seeding for the super sprint heats. 
  • Age group heats will run with up to 6 competitors with the top 2 competitors advancing to the next round. Age categories may be raced in combined heats. 
  • The Time Trial and heats will consist of three roller ski loops and shoot 5 targets two times.
  • Competitors 10yrs and 12yrs will shoot prone on standing targets with a rest
  • Competitors 14 years and 16yrs will shoot prone on prone targets , with use of a rest optional 
  • Youth and above age groups will shoot prone and standing targets.
  • Distances  - loops will be 500m or 1km depending upon age. 
  • Penalty loop for target misses
  • Medals will be awarded to place-getters  

Course Inspection and Zeoring:  Course inspection and zeroing will commence from  8.30am. 

Equipment Hire:  Racing equipment can be hire for $10, please indicate requirements when registering. 

Roller-Ski Competency : To enter the roller-skiing racing format, entrants should be competent on roller-skis.  Roller blading will be permissible in its own racing category if athletes are inexpereinced in roller-skiing.    

Safety Equipment: Helmets are mandatory to wear in the race and elbow pads and knee pads are recommended for newer roller-skiers. 

Membership: You must be a member of a Biathlon East Australia Club or Association to enter the Biathlon East Australia Summer Series events. This ensures insurance coverage. Day membership ($5) can be purchased from our Membership shop. 

Volunteer Officials: Biathlon racing requires volunteer officials to count target misses, penlty loops and to act as Course and Range Officials. Please indicate your availability to assist with officiating. Parents volunteering will be able to observe their children and others racing on the day.   

Further information on distances, racing formats and loop maps will be available prior to the competition and will be made available to entrants.
