The Australian Biathlon Championships waxing and coaching support program is being held with adherence to Biathlon East Australia's COVID-19 Safety Plan requirements.  

If you are ill or have flu-like symptions, please donot attend.

Coaching and waxing support is available to members of Biathlon East Australia Associations and Clubs at the Australian Biathlon Championships. 

This event is held by East Gippsland Biathlon Club and NSW Biathlon on behalf of Biathlon East Australia. 

Venue: Whiskey Flat Biathlon Range, Hotham

Draft Schedule:

Fri 13rd August 2021

9 am to 12 noon-  Pre-race training, zeroing, technical review of race course, ski testing and special complex training and practice sprint races

3.30 pm - team run, stretching, waxing advice

Sat 14th August 2021

am -  Zeroing and race support

pm - team run, stretching, waxing advice and race debrief

Sun 15th August 2021

am - Zeroing, warm up and race support

A final program will be confirmed with participants in the week prior to the event.

Waxing: Ski waxing for events will be provided as part of coaching support, Athletes will be assisted to test skis on the Friday.

Note: wax used will comply with the protocols of IBU / Australian Biathlon Association as the  event organiser for this event. This may include a restriction on the type of HF wax permitted and for these events Future Fluro Free High Performance waxes will be used.

Athletes are  welcome to use their own LF waxes and will be shown how to apply these and can wax their skis at the same  time as the coaches are waxing.   

Shooting:   Athletes should bring their biathlon rifle, accessories and ammunition along with Firearms licence/minors permit. A limited supply of .22 biathlon rifles are available for hire under prior arrangement for the Championships.

Cost:   Wax for skis will cost $65 per pair for high performance wax including HF or Fluro Free high performance wax and structure if needed.

Coaching fee per athlete:  will be determined based upon the the number of athletes who are part of the event. The aim is to keep the cost as low as possible. 

Rifle Hire fee: there will be a rifle hire fee of $5 per day. 

Using LF wax: athletes should being their own LF wax and there is not cost to waxing along side of the coaches.  

Registration: Interested athletes should register their attendance by 5 August 2021 so final numbers, costings and details can be advised.
