XC Rollerski Sprint Race and Laser Biathlon Super Sprint

         

A XC Roller-Skiing and Biathlon Summer Series event is being held in Jindabyne

(please register the name of the entrant.)

Date:  Sunday 30th May, 2021

Where:  Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre Oval

Bib Pick-up: from 8.30am at the athletics track 

Course Inspection and warm up:   from 8.30am

Event Start Time: 9.15am  

Cost: $10 per entry

Entries Close:  Friday 28th May at 11.59pm

Age Categories: Age categories will be for male and female. Age is the age you are turning in 2021 as follows:

10yrs and under, 12years and under, 14years and under, 16years and under, Youth (17-18yrs), Junior (19-21yrs), Open, Masters 30years plus

Racing Format:  

  • Roller-skiing skating on the Jindabyne Bike Track / Oval
  • An interval start Sprint style time trial will determine the seeding for the both the X C sprint and Laser biathlon single mixed relay teams. 
  • Age group heats will run with up to 6 competitors with the top 2 competitors advancing to the next round. Age categories may be raced in combined heats. 
  • The X C Time Trial and heats will consist of three roller ski loops. 
  • The Laser biathlon Single Mixed Relay will consist of one roller ski loop and then shoot 5 targets, a second roller ski loop and again shoot 5 targets followed by a last roller ski loop to change over with your team mate or to finish. So each person completes a total of 3 roller ski loops and 2 rounds of shooting. 
  • 30min will be provided between the X C sprint and event and the Laser Biathlon Single Mixed relay to practice with the laser rifles.
  • The Laser biathlon Single and Mixed Relay teams will consist of males and females of all ages and combined to make the teams as even as possible based
  • Competitors 10yrs and 12yrs will shoot prone on standing targets with a rest
  • Competitors 14 years and 16yrs will shoot prone on prone targets , with use of a rest optional 
  • Youth and above age groups will shoot prone and standing targets.
  • Distances  - loops are 400m
  • Penalty loop for target misses
  • Medals will be awarded to place-getters  

Course Inspection and Zeoring:  Course inspection and zeroing will commence from  8.30am. 

Equipment Hire:  Roller ski equipment can be provided, please indicate requirements when registering. 

Roller-Ski Competency : To enter the roller-skiing racing format, entrants should be competent on roller-skis.  Roller blading will be permissible in its own racing category if athletes are inexpereinced in roller-skiing.    

Safety Equipment: Helmets are mandatory to wear in the race and elbow pads and knee pads are recommended for newer roller-skiers. 

Membership: Day membership of Biathlon East Australia is included in the entry fee. This ensures insurance coverage. 

Volunteer Officials: XC skiing and Biathlon racing requires volunteer officials to marshal, count target misses, penlty loops and to act as Course and Range Officials. Please indicate your availability to assist with officiating. Parents volunteering will be able to observe their children and others racing on the day.   

Further information on distances, racing formats and loop maps will be available prior to the competition and will be made available to entrants.
