2017 Trimester 2 events will include 3 IBU Cups, 3 World Cup, European Championships and an IBU Junior Cup. NSW athletes Sabrina Howell and Daniel Walker will be focusing on the IBU Cup circuit and trying to achieve the magical sub 250pts early in Trimester 2 to qualify for Trimester 3 racing. While Walker is a veteran of qualifying nerves, this will be new to Howell as she steps out of Junior racing into Open racing. 

Morton family brother and sister duo are likely to take a break from IBU  Cup racing in Trimester 2 after their strong results in Trimester 1 with  Damon achieving World Cup and World Championships qualification  points and Darcie the best female results since Sochi Olympian Lucy  Glanville's 2014 race results.

On coaches advice, their January focus will be a strong training block ahead of Damon contesting Senior World Championships (start 10 Feb) and Darcie continuing to build her endurance and capacity ahead of Asian Winter Games. They are likely to race the IBU Junior Cup in Popljuka (SLO) towards the end of January ensuring they keep racing fit.
