Archie Experiences Biathlon
Published Tue 27 Mar 2018
Archie Gordon not only finished Year 12 in 2017, but also took the plunge from cross country skiing into trying Biathlon!
Archie spent December, January and most of February in Europe with the Morton family and a host family from Union Rosenback XC and Biathlon Club, which is very close to the Slovenian border and home Club to AUT World Cup biathlete, Daniel Mesotitsch.
Archie tells us:
“My time in Europe has been full of growth and new experiences.
Prior to December, I had never skied with a rifle on my back so it has been a steep learning curve for sure. Thanks to the training and support of Cameron Morton, I learnt the ins and outs of biathlon and began to compete in multiple events including Slovenian and Austrian Cups and also the inter-country Alpen Cups competition.
My latest result at the Alpencup proved to be my best coming 14th on the first day and 16th on the second. “
Archie has made fantastic progress in the small time he’s been part of biathlon and will be a strong competitor this winter in both his cross country and biathlon racing.
