Great day of racing for NSW Biathlon member athletes and NSW laser biathlon participants at the AUSXC Roller-Ski Championships on Sat 14^th April 2018. The event was held at the Mt Stromlo Forest Park Criterium Track in Canberra. .

NSW was well represented by Albert Allan, Dash Bouvier, John-Maxwell Fuller, Damika Morton, Isabella Moon, Darcie Morton, Damon Morton, Saskia Moon and even Coach Cameron Morton joined in! NSW Laser Biathlon racers Hugo Hinkfuss, Edward Johnson, Samuel Johnson, Saskia, Larissa and Scarlett Shortus also joined in the Championship racing. Mention also of Gary McGregor who regularly attends Sunday roller-skiing and ventured into the Masters races for some very promising results.

The Championships consisted of a Sprint, including time-trial and finals racing and a longer Distance Criterium Championship. The competition standard was high with Pyeongchang Winter Olympians Barbara Jezersek and Callum Watson both racing in the Open Age Category. The most hotly contested age groups where the U16 Girls and Open Men’s age categories with 14 starters in the Open Men and 10 starters in the U16 Girls.

Special mention must be made of Dash Bouvier, who had the 3^rd fastest time-trial and was just piped on the line by Edward in the final by .48 of a second!
