Biathletes from the East Australia Biathlon Clubs and Associations performed brilliantly at the Australian Interschools XC Championships held at Mt Buller in Victoria. Coming from across all locations including Sydney (NSW), Canberra (ACT), Jindabyne (NSW), Southern Highlands (NSW) and Marlo (VIC) it was podiums and medals all round.

Congratulations to our medallists including:

Div 4 - Damika Morton, Tobie Gardner, Joshua Gardner, Dash Bouvier, John-Maxwell Fuller, Charles Mann, Chilli Sparke, Xanthe McDonald

Div 3 - Ava McCann, Phoenix Sparke, Oscar Hallis, Thomas Ferster, James Stoddard

Div 2  - Jack Hirst

Div 1 - Bentley Walker-Broose, Chelsey Johnson

Special mention to Damika Morton who achieved her podium result racing the boys in Div 4!

In addition, athletes who took part in the Laser Biathlon Junior Series achieved team and individual podiums in:

Div 5 Boys, Div 4 Boys, Div 4 Girls, Div 3 Boys, Div 3 Girls, Div 1 Girls

When held in Victoria, National XC Interschools always presents a challenge for biathletes as they compete in both classic and freestyle technique, whereas biathletes are freestyle focussed with classic being used more as a training and recovery tool as opposed to racing. So, for a number of our biathletes to medal individually in Classic is a massive achievement.

Biathlon in East Australia congratulates all XC athletes and biathletes who represented their schools at Interschools, as the competitions and experience is the starting place for many who have gone onto represent Australia internationally, including at Winter Youth Olympic Games and Winter Olympic Games.
