Biathlon ACT June Training Camp
Published Mon 10 Jun 2019
Biathlon ACT held a great training camp over the first weekend in June, incorporating their mini champs and development program biathletes with Biathlon in East Australia’s High Performance athletes also taking the opportunity to train together.
The Camp offered live-in accommodation at the Canberra Rifle Club for non-ACT residents with the Camp program using the Club as its base. Activities included .22 shooting training on metal biathlon targets, long slow endurance roller-skiing along the close-by ACT bike pathways plus laser rifle practice for the U12 attendees.
High performance Australian National team biathletes Darcie Morton (VIC), Archie Gordon (ACT) and Izzy Moon (NSW) found the Camp particularly supportive as the countdown for winter and their selection races for 2019 edge closer. Their program included 3 sessions of .22 shooting and 5 sessions of training from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon.
Other attendees came from Sydney, Canberra and Marlo in Victoria. The interest in biathlon in ACT is continuing to grow and with great support from Canberra Rifle Club, the summer training facilities are developing into one of the best across the 3 states of VIC, NSW and ACT.
