Biathlon in NSW is Back!
Published Sun 17 Oct 2021
With the recent relaxing of COVID19 Public Health Orders, NSW Biathlon was able to hold a training session for up to 20 athletes at Newington Armory today.
With athletes being a little rusty due to the prolonged lock-down, it was a session to get back on the roller-skis, work the hills, hit the targets and generally shake out the cobwebs. It was great to see it all coming back relatively easy and “muscle memory” with shooting positioning switching on.
The session started with loops of the trails to warm-up, moving to the hill stretch for technique work and back to the Range to hit the targets. It was the first outing for the new 50m laser systems that NSW Biathlon has been able to purchase due to the generous grant support of the NSW Government
Many thanks to Sydney Olympic Park for their support in opening the Armory to the biathletes so they could get back on their roller-skis. It was a “fantastic” first session back and a great catch-up for the athletes with their team-mates. Weekly sessions will now be continuing, check the Events page to book in!
