Biathlon in Qld Continues to Grow

Published Sun 23 Sep 2018

Biathlon in Qld is continuing to develop with a number of schools now involved and corporate interest kicking off. Just Do It:Roll owner, Bruce Mann has been presenting to a number of conferences, including the ACHPER (Australian Council for Health and Physical Education and Recreation) in August and The Scandinavian Festival in September in Brisbane.

Bruce also held his first Club event using bikes which was a great success!

As a qualified school teacher, Bruce has been able to interest schools in biathlon as a part of their school sport curriculum and reports the students are very much enjoying the experience. They are using a track close to their school (which is part of the QLD State School System) and includes a short but relatively steep hill, which is adding to the challenge.

He is expanding to offer biathlon as a before and after school activity and is working with NSW Biathlon, bring a team of QLD biathletes to attend the 2019 Junior Series Event in Perisher on 19th August 2019.

Our congratulations to Bruce, who will be heading to the 2019 World Biathlon Championships in Sweden, where he has successfully applied for accreditation to work in the Media section.

So, if you are heading to Brisbane or SE Qld and want to develop your biathlon skills or know anyone in this area who would be interested, they can contact Bruce on
