Biathlon Takes Off in Regional NSW!
Published Sun 16 Sep 2018
Making the most of the great snowfalls this season, two days of on-snow biathlon was held over the weekend of 15th and 16th September at the Perisher Laser Biathlon Range. The sessions were led by NSW Head Coach Cameron Morton and Australia’s 2018 shadow Olympic team member, Damon Morton and took the attendees through a range of biathlon drills, including how to approach the Range, getting onto/off the shooting mat, positioning the body correctly as well as general cross-country skiing drills.
The Camp built on the great attendance and success of the local Jindabyne students at the 2018 Laser Biathlon Junior series event. The students, whose race entry and training sessions were sponsored by the Rob Kneller Youth Foundation, were excited to continue their biathlon development and keenly attend the weekend’s sessions.
The Camp was also open to interested biathletes from ACT, where coach Cam Morton plans to hold a number of biathlon development camps in 2019.
All in all, a great weekend to take advantage of the last of 2018’s snow and to support the development of biathlon in regional NSW.
