Biathlon Training Camp at Wodonga
Published Fri 28 Jan 2022
On 22 and 23 January 2022 a biathlon training weekend was held at the SSAA Biathlon Wodonga facility. It was the first biathlon event of 2022, and attendance was open to any member of the Australian biathlon community.
Participants at the camp came from from Sydney, Jindabyne, Canberra, Wodonga, Wangaratta, Mt Beauty and Melbourne across a wide range of age groups. In total there were 14 participants over the weekend.
The camp was focused on developing athlete shooting skills and included sessions to equip parents with an an understanding of how to record and provide shooting feedback to an athlete.
After the training sessions on Saturday, the afternoon was spent getting to know each other and included swimming and stand-up paddle boarding at the local Wodonga water hole which also doubled as some “cool down” activities.
The group then enjoyed a BBQ dinner at the Hume Weir Yacht Club which involved a ‘some what’ competitive game of Finska.
The weekend was a fantastic start to biathlon for 2022 and combined a good balance of training with an opportunity to get to know other members of the Australian biathlon community.
Our thanks to SSAA Biathlon Wodonga and Biathlon East Australia for their organisation of the event.
