Biathlon Champions of Victoria
Published Thu 22 Aug 2019
It was a tremendous result for the Biathlon in East Australia biathletes at the Victorian Biathlon Championships, with 9 from 10 biathletes finishing in podium positions across the age categories entered.
Starting with coach Cameron Morton, who swapped into an athlete role for the Championships and dominated the Open Men wining both the Individual and Sprint event, all the biathletes showed the benefit of their hard summer training and the top-quality coaching provided by the NSW and ACT coaches.
The most competitive U19 Youth Woman category was dominated by our aspiring Winter Youth Olympians with NSW athletes Lulu Miskin, Izzy Moon and Chelsey Johnson finishing 1,2,3 on both days.
In the other age groups, first time competitor Phoenix Sparke dominated the laser division, along with team-mates Damika Morton (U13 Girls), Tobie Gardner and Joshua Gardner (U13 Boys).
Will Neuhaus kept his focus despite being the only competitor in the U22 Junior Men and Samuel Johnson debuted in the U15 Boys division.
All in all it was a very pleasing weekend of results given 4 of our biathletes were first-time at Mt Hotham Biathlon Range and fantastic coaching support from Damon Morton in his debut as lead Coach over the weekend.
