Firearms Safety Testing Day

Published Wed 19 Oct 2016

The afternoon commenced with a presentation from Alpine Precision’s Brent Bailey regarding the rights, wrongs and responsibilities of using a firearm and including information on why there are firearms laws, how a firearm works and the different types of firearms, firearms safety and the National Firearms Safety Code, safe storage of firearms and the required licenses and permits to become a licensed shooter in NSW.

Attendees then sat their Firearms Safety Qualification course with a 100% pass rate!

Everyone then moved from the Alpine Precision Clubhouse to the Horseshoe 50m Shooting Range to undergo the practical part of the firearms licensing process. Athletes and their parents shot an initial 20 rounds in the prone position with some shooting a further 20 rounds in the standing position. It was a great introductory session to shooting for the biathletes and their parents with regular shooting on Saturday afternoons to become part of NSW Biathlon’s on-going activities.
