Great week of training at the Mt Hotham Biathlon Range

Published Sat 04 Jul 2020

It’s been a great week of training at Mt Hotham with the snow falling by mid-week making it possible for skiing and shooting to be combined. The athletes took advantage of the conditions and sessions were busy and varied. Mornings were spent at the Range developing accuracy and muscle memory for shooting positions.

The afternoons were away from the Range on the XC trails, with both classic and skating, working on technique and speed.

Evenings involved regular dry-fire sessions and a waxing seminar to upskill the athletes and learning to manage their own equipment for training and travelling.

Coaching from Australian IBU World Championships athlete Damon Morton was excellent on the Range and the athletes greatly benefited from his knowledge and expertise.

Many thanks to Mt Hotham Resort for their support and grooming of the tracks once the snow had arrived.
