Hotham Training Camp
Published Fri 09 Jul 2021
Biathlon East Australia held 3 weeks of school holiday biathlon training at Mt Hotham during July. The Camp involved ski technique upskilling, social interaction and a focus on specific biathlon skills at the Range. .
While the snow was initially snow to arrive, the great comradeship between the athletes, ensured lots of activities took place at the Range, on the skifields and in the Team Lodge, while the athletes waited patiently for the arrival of snow.
When the snow finally did arrive, the athletes were able to get out and enjoy the start their on-snow drills, skiing and core activities as part of their training sessions.
While the were some tough weather conditions as the snow arrived, there was lots of determination and improvement showing from all the athletes. The Camp covered both classic and skate skiing and a high focus on .22 shooting.
A big thanks goes to the BEA event organisers, our House Parents – Brad and Emily, and the other parent volunteers for their great support of the program. Mt Hotham Resort Management Board was tremendous in their support and The General delivered some fantastic lunches every day!
Great thanks as well to coaches Cameron Morton and Damon Morton for their excellent coaching and development support for the athletes.
