Laser Biathlon Exempted from NSW Firearms Regulations
Published Sat 05 Aug 2017
On Friday 4th August NSW Biathlon received formal notification from NSW Firearms Registry and NSW Police Minister Troy Grant that an exemption had been provided under the NSW Firearms Regulations 2006 from the requirements to have an imitation firearms permit to participate in laser biathlon and laser pentathlon events.
The exemption means that laser biathlon target shooting devices, including Friedl Bartsch’s Faezor Laser system which is used during Winter at the Perisher XC Trails, are exempt from requiring a firearms permits and can be used in any location and by all ages.
NSW Biathlon would like to thank NSW Firearms Registry, Police Minister Troy Grant, Sports Minister Stuart Ayres, Deputy Premier John Barilaro, Sport NSW and Friedl Bartsch for their support and collaborative work to achieve the exemption.
