Lulu Heads to Canmore

Published Sun 11 Feb 2018

Lulu Miskin used her Australian summer holidays to hone her biathlon skills in Canmore, Canada. Canmore Nordic Centre was the location for the 1988 Winter Olympics and the development pathway venue for 2014 Sochi Olympian Lucy Glanville and Australia’s current No 1 ranked biathlete Damon Morton, both of whom spent many Northern Hemisphere winters in Canada while they were at school!

Lulu joined the Rocky Mountain Race Club under the watchful eye of Coach John Jaques over the 8 weeks she was in Canada.

Lulu said, “ I had a great time in Canmore. The girls in the Rocky Mountain Race Club were so welcoming and we trained well together under John Jaques.

I focused on training rather than racing but did participate in a race in Red Deer on my last weekend. I was also lucky enough to have a few shooting sessions with John which was amazing!”

Lulu performed extremely well in her racing at Red Deer which was a Haywood NorAm’s (North American ) race meet with entrants from USA and Canada. Lulu finished 34th/53 starters in the Juvenile Girls 5km Classic and qualified through to the quarter-finals finishing 23rd/49 in the Freestyle sprint. These are great results as the competition at NorAms is very high.

Lulu has now commenced her Year 11 studies and started her Term 1 training with team-mate Izzy Moon and Coach Lucy Glanville.
