Marlo Public School Learns About Biathlon

Published Sun 28 Jun 2020

Biathlon East Australia and East Gippsland Biathlon Club's Cameron Morton recently held a great introduction to biathlon session at Marlo Public School. The session was open to students from Years 3-6, with the aim to introduce them to biathlon, given the closeness of the Mt Hotham Whiskey Flat Biathlon Range.

Cameron took the students throught the introductory stages of roller-skiing, including how to manage a laser rifle and  the safety aspects of shooting. Additional activties included balancing boards and  learning how to roller-ski penalty loops. The students thorougly enjoyed their intriduction to biathlon and  provided some great feeback!

Dear Mr. Morton,

Thank you for the great biathlon session yesterday. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and experiences. We hope we can have another session. What I liked about the roller skiing was learning I could eventually get up again without getting hurt.

Monty

What I liked was the roller skiing. I had lots of fun and I learned fun things. I liked the laser shooting.

Keira

I liked all of the activities. The roller skiing was tricky but liked the challenges.

Indi

What happened yesterday, I liked the roller skiing. The other activities I did was the laser rifles. I shot all 5 targets.

Jack

I liked the roller skiing because it was like real skiing. I also liked the balancing boards.

Orio

I hope you had fun because I certainly did. Two activities I liked were roller skiing and the lasers. Thank you.

Lily

What I enjoyed about yesterday was the roller skiing and learning how to get on my skis again. Getting started on my skis was challenging but it is important to never give up when something is too hard.

Jarra

Thank you. I liked the new activities that we got to learn. I did not know that biathlon was a sport. Thanks to you, now I know.

Leila

What I liked about doing some biathlon was when we had a go at roller skiing, using the lasers and the penalty loops.

Jazmyn

I really had a great time training yesterday. The reason why I had a great time because I got to teach the class how to shoot the lasers properly. Most of the class listened.

Tobie

Thank you for some fun. My favourite activity was the laser and skiing.

Teddy

We are so glad you enjoyed the biathlon sessions, Marlo Public School and we hope to see you all soon at biathlon!
