Mount Hotham Easter Training Camp!
Published Tue 10 May 2022
In the week following Easter, Australian Biathlon & Biathlon East Australia held a joint 2022 April training camp. The training camp was part of the 2022 Australian Biathlon & Biathlon East Australia Performance and Development programs and was held at the Hotham Biathlon Arena and included a day visit to the SSAA Wodonga Biathlon range for shooting and roller-ski training.
The camp kicked off on Tuesday the 19th April and the athletes jumped straight into training, with no time to waste. While day 1 was challenging weather wise, a big thank you to the Hotham Race Club who allowed the biathletes to use their club house. The weather improved form day 2 onwards and each day involved 2 separate training sessions, a combination of either 22. shooting, roller-skiing, or fitness.
The attendees, where able to get lots of training time to practise all the elements of Biathlon. The week was great for increasing muscle memory through repetition, which ultimately results in faster and more consistent shooting skills.
On Friday the 22nd, the camp travelled to the SSAA Biathlon Wodonga range, which provided a great change of training environment and the athletes smashed it! After two final sessions at Mount Hotham on Saturday, the camp ended.
The training camp also provided a great opportunity for the attendees to socialise and get to know their biathlon family fellow athletes even more.
Great work to all the athletes that attended the camp and made it so successful. Thank you to our coaches, the event organisers and of course our wonderful parent volunteer assistants for such a dynamic and enjoyable week.
