NSW Biathlon Athletes Perform Strongly in XC National Team Selection Races

There has been great XC and biathlon racing at Perisher and Hotham over the last 2 weeks.
In biathlon, podium results were achieved on both days of racing at the Victorian Biathlon Championships from Damon Morton (1st) and Cameron Morton (2nd) in the Open Men’s events with Isabella Moon finishing 1st in the U17 Mass Start and 2nd in the Sprint. Damika Morton completed the double 1st on the podium in the U12 laser biathlon with Will Neuhaus finishing 3rd in Men’s U21 Sprint.
Meanwhile in Perisher at the Australian Junior XC Championships - Darcie Morton, Phoebe Cridland, Lulu Miskin, Isabella Moon, Damika Morton, Archie Gordon, Alberto Allan and Jake Cridland achieved a range of podium results plus qualification to the Australian Junior XC Team. The weekend’s racing consisted of a Sprint Freestyle and Distance Classic racing with the reverse format held the weekend before.
In the Freestyle Sprints, podiums were achieved by Darcie Morton, Lulu Miskin, Phoebe Cridland, Isabella Moon, Archie Gordon, Jake Cridland and Alberto Allan.
In the Classic Distance, Darcie Morton, Phoebe Cridland, Damika Morton, Alberto Allan, Jake Cridland were successfully on the podium with Archie Gordon unfortunately being ill after Saturday’s freestyle sprint and electing not to start.
Congratulations to Darcie Morton, Archie Gordon and Phoebe Cridland who have preliminary qualified for the Australian Junior XC Team for 2018-19.
