NSW Biathlon Partners with Veteran Sport Australia
Published Thu 20 Jun 2019
NSW Biathlon is excited to be partnering with Veteran Sport Australia to connect veterans and their families with our great sport of biathlon. Veteran Sport Australia was set up in Oct 2018 after the 2018 Invictus Games to connect veterans to a variety of sports which supports their physical and mental well-being.
In Australia, sport is a rewarding part of everyday life but for Veteran Sport it is much more. The goal of Veterans Sport is to connect more veterans to a variety of sports, support attendance at camps, and competitive events and games, like Warrior Games and Invictus Games.
Veteran Sport Australia makes it easy for veterans and their families to connect with individual and team sport, one-off competitive events, camps and multi-sport Games. They provide pathways to coaching and mentoring training and access to financial assistance for those who cannot afford to participate.
NSW Biathlon will be partnering with Veteran Sport Australia to provide opportunities both dry-land and on-snow to get Veterans involved in biathlon. Both organisations see Biathlon as a great fit, combining the physical low impact side of roller-skiing and snow-skiing with the mental focus of laser or .22 shooting. Our masters program is a perfect fit for Veterans with our junior development programs proving an opportunity for all members of the family to be involved.
NSW Biathlon looks forward to welcoming Veterans and their families to biathlon.
