NSW Biathlon Receives Safe Shooting Grant

Published Thu 13 Oct 2016

NSW Biathlon has been successful in receiving a grant from the NSW Office of Sport to assist with a number of biathlon shooting safety initiatives including:

  • subsidizing the cost of undertaking safety courses required as part of obtaining a NSW Firearms license,
  • ricochet protection for metal targets
  • biathlon mats for safe shooting when roller-skiing, running or mountain biking

The grant is a great boost for biathlon in NSW and NSW Biathlon very much thanks the Office of Sport and Mulgoa MP Tanya Davies for their support. The grant has already assisted in organising a firearms safety licensing day at the Anzac Rifle Range in partnership with Alpine Precision Rifle Club, the purchase of 10 specialised biathlon shooting mats to be used for both dry-land and on-snow biathlon shooting activities and the initial design of wooden frames to remove bullet ricochet on the biathlon metal targets.
