NSW Laser Biathlon Summer Series 2 Held On-Snow!
Published Sat 15 Jun 2019
NSW Laser Biathlon Summer Series Event No 2 was held on 9 June 2019. Due to the amazing early snow falls providing a great opportunity for athletes to race on snow, the event was held at the Perisher Laser Biathlon Range.
Biathletes of all ages and levels enjoyed a great morning of on-snow laser biathlon racing with each age group skiing three loops of either the Nordic Shelter loop or the Sprint loop. The Youth and Masters athletes skied loops of 1.8km. With a bright sunny day, the scene was set for excitement, nerves and success!
Racing first were our youngest U10 athletes followed by our 12years and under age category and then all the way to Youth Girls and Masters Male. Different rules applied to different age groups to accommodate experience and the international age rules of standing and prone shooting.
For many of the biathletes it was their first biathlon event on-snow and allowed them to put together the components of skiing and shooting which they had been developing and practising over summer.
Congratulations to our age categories winners:
10years and Under Girls Tessa Paxton
10years and Under Boys Edward Johnson

Many thanks to our Volunteer Officials without whom any biathlon event simply cannot run and to the grooming services of NPWS who ensured the Range was well groomed for the athletes.
