Podium for Darcie Morton!

Published Mon 03 Dec 2018

Darcie Morton kicked off her 2018-19 European season in the best manner ever, taking 2nd place in the Junior Women’s Sprint at the Swiss Biathlon Cup No 1 at Realp on Saturday. Recovering from a slight cold, Morton said "her skiing felt pretty good" and "her shooting (0,2) wasn’t bad either!"

Morton has been training at the Swiss National Team base in Lenzerheide, SUI and has found the venue really good with biathletes from all over Swizerland coming to train. Of her racing efforts, Morton said:

“The first race of the season was surprisingly good. The weather was perfect and because of the lack of snow, the race was held on a short, flat man-made snow loop. As I was still getting over my cough, this probably suited me. But my skiing felt good and overall I am happy with my first results of the season.”

Morton will now join the Australian Cross Country team in Davos, SUI for 3 weeks of intensive XC ski training before she heads back to biathlon and joins her NSW team mates for the start of their NSW State Team Biathlon tour.
