Post Christmas Training Gets UnderWay

Published Sat 28 Dec 2019

The BiEA biathletes have been out and about continuing their training after Christmas and ahead of their upcoming racing in January.

Our 3 Youth Olympians are in the midst of their training blocks in Italy and Austria, before coming together in early January for a pre Youth Olympic training camp with their fellow team-mates, who will round out the 6 person Biathlon team to represent Australia at Lausanne.

The BiEA team is being joined by Archie Gordon, Phoenix Spark and Sam Martin and will be training at the World Cup venue in Ruhpolding (GER) before moving back into AUT to attend a number of races and experience biathlon racing in Europe.

Training for the 2 week block between Christmas and New Year includes skiing technique, a special focus on shooting to take advantage of the great facilities that can be accessed in Europe, together with rest and recovery, especially for Darcie Morton and Izzy Moon, who have been in Europe since early November.

At the end of January, 4 of our athletes will be attending IBU Youth/Junior World Championships and their December/January training block and racing is important preperation for World Juniors, which is the premier event for Youth/Junior biathletes each year.

Great work from the team biathletes and coaches in support - Cameron Morton and Iris Pressy.
