School Holiday Programs Done and Dusted!
Published Sun 29 Jul 2018
A great 4 weeks of training and racing concluded today with a number of NSW Biathlon athletes, including our State Team and State Team Development Team, competing at the Australian XC Junior Championships, held at the Perisher XC Trails.
We’ve had a great 4 weeks of laser biathlon, XC ski training, .22 shooting training, our inaugural NSW Laser Biathlon State Championships plus some great results at the ACT, NSW and Australian State and National Championships. This year, the program was specifically structured to cater to our regular athletes and also those who were interested in dropping in and either trying biathlon or building on their existing skills.
The great aspect about biathlon, is its endurance nature allows an athlete to continue in younger years to participate in a wide range of sports (which we encourage) and look to specialise in their mid-teens if biathlon becomes the passion. And if it doesn’t, then how much fun is it to be part of biathlon in any event and continue to do other sport!
NSW Biathlon would like to thank our coaches Cameron Morton and Lucy Glanville for providing the XC and Biathlon coaching support to our programs and to Friedl Bartsch for the use of his laser rifles during the school holiday program.
A number of our athletes have successfully qualified for State and Australian XC Teams and also for the NSW Biathlon State and State Development Teams. With one more weekend of Biathlon National Team selection races to be held, the NSW Laser Biathlon Junior Series and XC Interschools races, we hope to see some more success for the NSW biathletes.
We are back in Sydney from Sunday 5th August with dry-land training ahead of the Biathlon Junior Series and XC Interschools races on 20th and 22nd August 2018 and please feel free to join us.
