School Holidays On-Snow Biathlon
Published Sat 20 Jul 2019
The July school holidays are the time where NSW biathletes bring together their summer training on- snow. It’s the time where loops are skied, Range drills are practiced and accuracy tested. The coaches focus on improving ski technique and speed at the Range.
This season the snow was a little late and for the first two weeks of the holidays, skiing was made possible thanks to the generosity of Perisher Resort who permitted the biathletes to ski on the man-made snow at Blue Cow. Our .22 athletes, were kindly supported by Berridale Snowy Shooters who made it possible for them to practice their biathlon shooting.
When mother nature finally prevailed, we were back at the Perisher Nordic trails and the Laser Biathlon Range, doing all things biathlon!
It was great to see the summer drills and training come to fruition on the snow with continual improvement and upskilling. Many thanks to our coaches Damon, Cameron and Lucy for their skill and engagement with the athletes on snow and their tireless summer training sessions in Sydney, Jindabyne, Canberra, Sothern Highlands, Melbourne and Marlo.
Biathlon racing will now begin! Biathletes are made in summer.
