Sean’Hope Continues the Family Tradition
Published Wed 20 Nov 2019
When Sean’Hope (or Seanie), first showed interest in Biathlon, neither her family or Biathlon ACT, knew how good she might be. However, after her first event in 2018 at the NSW Laser Biathlon Junior Series, Seanie was hooked!
Since then, Seanie has developed both her XC skiing and biathlon skills and 2019 was a break out year for her, winning not only the 2019 NSW Laser Biathlon Junior Series for Schools, but also:
- Australian Biathlon U15 Women’s Sprint Championships
- Australian Biathlon U15 Women’s Short Individual Championships
- Australian Cross Country U14 Women’s Distance Championships
In addition, she placed 2nd in the Australian Cross Country U14 Women’s Sprint Championships.
It was no surprise therefore when Canberra Rifle Club asked Seanie to continue her family’s long connection with the Club and present an Award at the recently held 2019 Queen’s Prize which was held as part of the ACT Championships.
The Dovey Family (Seanie’s Dad’s family) have been involved with Canberra Rifle Club for over 50 years and were founding members of the Club. Her Dad’s grandfather was Club Captain and his Uncle was also heavily involved.
The Dovey Family has a prize that is named after/donated by them and with Seanie’s involvement in biathlon, Canberra Rifle Club asked her to present the Award at the Queen’s Prize event.
Seanie’s Mum, Jules Craig said “It was a lovely afternoon and very exciting for our family to have involvement again in the Canberra Rifle Club, which has been so supportive of biathlon and its growth in ACT.”
Great work Seanie!
