Summer Laser Biathlon Commences in Sydney
Published Sat 17 Nov 2018
A great session of laser biathlon was held at the Tempe Reserve Netball Courts thanks to Inner West Council and Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness. After attending an Office of Sport Facility Forum involving State Sports and Local Council’s to see where facilities could be multi used, NSW Biathlon was able to connect with the Inner West Council and the Tempe Netball Courts, mostly unused for weekend sport in summer, became a perfect venue for summer laser biathlon.
Using the Faezor Laser biathlon system where targets can be set up at 50m distance to simulate the target distance used for on-snow biathlon, the netball courts were a perfect “patch of bitumen” for roller-ski drills and laser shooting.
Agility drills were set up to develop the athletes skiing skills, including backwards, turns, jumps and side-stepping. The athletes used the drills, roller-skied the area of the netball courts and came into the Range with an elevated heart rate to shoot the lasers, practicing getting onto and off the shooting mats with their roller-skis on.
The session was an excellent development session and many thanks to our coaches for their well-thought out course and range set up and drills for the the day.
