Summer Series Event No 2
Published Sat 03 Jul 2021
The Biathlon East Australia summer series of events continued in NSW and were held as part of the traditional June long weekend training camp in Jindabyne. The event, held by NSW Biathlon, consisted of a rollerski and laser biathlon time-trial and mass start.
The weather was cool but dry with a challenging part road/part oval circuit course set. The individual time-trial was set at 30second intervals with three loops and two shoots using prone size laser targets. The shooting accuracy was phenomenal with many athletes avoiding the penalty loop through their accurate shooting.
It was very pleasing to see the benefit of summer training which many of the athletes had been undertaking at their various training locations. Their approaches to the Range, getting onto their shooting mat and shooting positioning all reflected the drills and skills they had been learning during summer biathlon training.
Our thanks go to the event organisers and volunteer officials for their great support of the event and to NSW Office of Sport – Jindabyne Sport and Recreation for making the venue and roadways available to us.
