It’s been a great start to the summer training for 2020. Programs are underway in Sydney and East Gippsland with Southern Highlands, ACT and Jindabyne programs commencing in March.

Activities have included laser shooting, .22 shooting and roller-skiing. With a number of biathletes now into their 2nd season of biathlon, coaching focus includes reducing time at the Range, to make it as efficient and quick as possible. Minutes can be reduced from a biathletes race time with efficient preparation coming into the Range and rifle placement. 

Roller-skiing and efficient technique which can be transferred onto snow has also been a focus. Being efficient on snow reduces fatigue and along with learning to ski downhills (not snowploughing!) will result in reducing racing time.   

The importance of developing more coaches is also a major focus with Biathlon East Australia's Head Coaches, Cam Morton and Lucy Glanville, are now being assisted by a range of other coaches currently being upskilled. More coaches assists in developing smaller biathlon programs at individual schools and at locations closer to where our biathletes are, reducing travel and increasing accessibility.

Our expanded accredited summer coaching pool includes 2016 Youth Olympian – Darcie Morton, 2020 Youth Olympians - Lulu Miskin, Chelsey Johnson and Isabella Moon, 2019/20 World Juniors Representative - Archie Gordon, plus a range of biathletes who can work with younger athletes on the lasers and their roller-skiing.

We provide equipment and coaching support for both summer and on-snow training. Coaches are all WWCC cleared and First Aid qualified and follow the Biathlon East Australia Coaches Code of Conduct.
