Summer Training Continues

The Importance of Summer Training
Summer training for biathletes involves a range of activities which build endurance, develop strength and improve technique for the upcoming winter racing months. NSW Biathlon junior athletes are roller-skiing, hill-bounding, building strength and keeping fit with their friends in great locations around Sydney. By holding a combination of weekend and after school weekday sessions (thanks to daylight saving), athletes are learning to both train by themselves under the guidance of their coaches training program and with their larger team.
In the end the purpose of summer training is to be involved in activities that are constant and work your heart, lungs and muscles. Precision shooting is done in the summer to improve position and groupings. Summer biathlon practice puts together shooting together with running, cycling or roller-skiing to simulate XC skiing and increase heart rates.
