Summer Training in Canberra
Published Fri 15 Nov 2019
Athletes came from Sydney, Canberra, Southern Highlands and Victoria for a busy training weekend in Canberra.
Sessions were held for Biathlon in East Australia’s high performance and development athletes with particular focus on .22 technique and accuracy on the targets with an elevated heart rate after running along the approved biathlon activity track at Canberra Rifle Club.
The weather on Saturday proved to be a little challenging with strong gusty winds and cool temperatures, which while good for roller-skiing played some havoc with accuracy on the Range.
Sunday conditions were much improved with a crisp cool but sunny morning greeting the athletes for their .22 session at the Range. The Range session had a strong teamwork vibe and engaging tempo developed between coaches Cameron Morton and Iris Pressy to ensure the best was obtained from the session for the athletes.
With a number of the athletes heading off to Europe for training prior the commencement of the 2019-20 competition season, the weekend was a great last come-together for them with the Coaches and their team-mates.
For the development athletes, the sessions consolidated their winter competition season and started their summer training programs for 2020.
The Camp was very successful and this time of year is a perfect final hit-out in Australia for those going overseas and for those staying in Australia, sets out their summer program for 2020.
