Weekend Training At SSAA Biathlon Wodonga

Published Sat 11 Dec 2021

SSAA Biathlon Wodonga held a day of training sessions for biathletes from NSW, ACT and VIC on Saturday 20 Nov 2021. The Wodonga Biathlon facility is currently the only facility in Australia where athletes can roller-ski into the biathlon range and practice their technique with elevated heart rate on their roller-skis.

The sessions were led by highly experienced biathlon coaches Bob Cranage and Lynn-Maree Cullen with a strong focus on speed into position on the mat and shooting accuracy. As biathletes becomes more competent and automatic with their mat positioning, minutes can be cut from racing times. Muscle memory and repetition are all part of developing fast shooting skills.

In 2022, it is planned for BEA athletes to be frequent users of the Wodonga facility, for both training sessions and attending events. Watch the Events page for more information!
