Programs and Activities

Biathlon East Australia through its Associations and Clubs offers programs and activities during both Winter and Summer. All ages and levels are catered for and Try Biathlon sessions are regularly held for those just starting out. Our upcoming events can be found under  Events  and are listed on our  Home Page. 

Summer Activities 

During summer, programs offered include laser biathlon and .22 IBU summer biathlon. Members can join biathlon training sessions and be part of roller-ski sessions across all levels including introductory, intermediate and advanced. All ages are catered for from Interschools Division 6 (5-8yrs), through to Juniors, Open and Masters.

Laser biathlon is offered in all locations and .22 IBU Biathlon shooting is conducted at accredited 50m smallbore rifle ranges in Sydney, Canberra, Berridale, Southern Highlands and Melbourne. Acquiring a firearms licence in NSW, ACT or Victoria is faciliated through our partner clubs.

Winter Activities 

During winter biathlon programs, including cross country ski coaching and training are held at the Perisher Valley Laser Biathlon Range. Programs are available for all levels and participants are taught the initial skills of laser biathlon including rifle handling and technique, Range skills and combining with cross country skiing. 

IBU Biathlon smallbore rifle shooting sessions are held at the SSAA Snowy Shooters Range in Berridale. 

For athletes who wish to race on-snow in a biathlon race using .22 smallbore rifles, Biathlon East Australia supports a team of athletes to travel to the Mt Hotham Biathlon Arena each year to enter the Australian Biathlon Championships and the Victorian Biathlon Championships.  

The NSW Biathlon State Championships, Junior Series Schools Biathlon and a number of other biathlon events are held at the Perisher Valley Laser Biathlon Range each year.
