Dear [[FIRST_NAME]]
2020 was certainly a winter like no other!
For biathlon, we worked hard and despite the challenges and restrictions, we stayed safe and were able to provide training and events for our athletes, members and supporters.
The management of BEA, NSW, ACT and our two Victorian Clubs, want to thank our members, parents and supporters for assisting us hold activties and events during winter 2020.

2020 Winter Events and Activities |
While conditions were challenging, firstly no snow, then too much snow, then further restrictions on community sport in NSW and new lock-downs in Victoria, biathlon still managed to deliver a number of key activties and events during winter. These included:
- 3 weeks of school holiday training at Perisher and Mt Hotham. The Mt Hotham training camp was attended by 10 of our high performance athletes who spent up to 10 days of intensive training at the Whiskey Flat biathlon range.
- NSW Laser Biathlon State Championships Time Trial
- weekly winter dry-land training in Sydney in lieu of on-snow term 3 activties
- establishment of the Active Hotham program which offered biathlon and cross country skiing programs to local athletes in and around Mt Hotham
- Interschools laser biathlon demonstration event for obervation purposes by the NSW Dept of Education
It was a great effort from all involved in the BEA biathlon community to hold the above events and activties.

Term 4 activties have commenced!
While we know many of our athletes and members use the summer months to enjoy their summer sports, we will be holding weekly roller-skiing, laser biathlon and .22 IBU biathlon sessions each weekend until 6 Dec 2020.
Locations will include Sydney, Jindabyne, Canberra, Southern Highlands and South East Gippsland. If you can't find what you are looking for on our website events listing, don't hesitate to make contact so we can provide assistance.

Congratulations and Good Luck Darcie! |
Congratulations to Darice Morton, who has been awarded a Tier 3 SportAUS Hall of Fame Scholarship. Darcie was awarded the scholarship based on her hard work and fantastic results as a biathlete and cross country skier since the age of 15years.
Darcie spoke to the SportAUS Hall of Fame saying:
"I am extremely grateful to have been welcomed into SAHOF as a successful Scholarship recipient as it provides me with encouragement and belief to continue my relentless pursuit to be the best athlete and person possible."
Darcie will shortly be leaving for overseas to train and race for the 2020-21 Northern Hemisphere IBU winter season. Darcie advised the SAHOF scholarship will be of great assistance:
"This scholarship will directly support me with the costs of travelling overseas to race internationally, providing me the opportunity to gain qualification points towards Bejing 2022 Winter Olympics."
Good luck Darice!
